About

Hi!  Thanks for visiting our site.  As you may have heard, we’re here to cover the nightmare on Jane St, aka the Ballroom at the Jane Hotel.

A few months ago the Jane Hotel opened its doors and we feel that it immediately changed the character of our once tranquil block.  And while we thought thousands of people loitering, dozens of cabs honking and music thumping from the club was bad enough, apparently we hear that they now want to take the party outside and open a rooftop bar.  With or without the Olsen twins, it’s really not cool.

You can check out the home page for regular updates on any given night’s debauchery, watch a great video showcasing a night on the block in our media section or view some interesting quotes from around the web.

In doing our homework, we read that the liquor license for the venue was approved by Community Board 2 on the basis that “music would be background only.”  As you’ll see throughout the site, music, at high volume, appears to be one of the venue’s main attractions.  To review the meeting record, you can download the document here–and, ironically, turn to Page 6.

To that end, we’ve attempted to engage our local elected officials in helping to restore the tranquility we once knew.  We are simply stunned that the City of New York would allow this to go on.  If you can’t believe it either, please feel free to exercise your civic muscles.  And if you’d like to share your own story on how you’ve been negatively affected by the changing neighborhood, please feel free to comment anywhere on the site.

Thanks!
