In the second installment of our new series, “Reality Check” we find another apparent inconsistency from the folks running The Jane Hotel. This time, in connection with the raid that took place on Friday, October 2nd.
From Tuesday, October 6th’s issue of The New York Post:
“A spokeswoman for the hotel, which operates a lounge in the ballroom, insisted that no violations were found.
But just one day later, The New York Post, armed with new details, reports:
“The ultra-hot Jane Hotel nightclub is now facing seven violations of city fire and building codes as a result of a surprise, multi-agency inspection ordered over the weekend by City Hall.”
And if you don’t believe the Post (don’t worry, we understand) you can actually see the violations yourself by clicking here.

From Eater.com: “Following last weekend’s visit by City Agencies and the SLA, the Jane has decided to restrict their capacity as they address some operational issues, and will only be using the front bar room and not the large ballroom space or upper level.”
Whether it was voluntary on the part of the Jane or a forced closure by one of the agencies, we’re happy to have a few quiet nights!

Popular New York blog Eater.com reports that the Jane Hotel was raided on Friday night by a number of city agencies including the Department of Health, Department of Buildings, the New York Police Department and the Fire Department. Further reports indicate that the raid took place at around 11:30 PM and that the Jane Hotel’s “lounge” area will now be restricted to fewer than 100 patrons.
We love law enforcement! Now, Hopefully those denied entry won’t be making a mess of our street.
